The CPLP....what was it, should I pursue it, was I crazy??? I had met several CPLPs at ATDCHi meetings and they embodied people at the top of their game (could I run with the big dogs?). So, on May 29, 2018 I took the first step on my CPLP journey, I registered for the June 7, 2018 ATDChi networking event, a panel discussion called "Exploring the CPLP and APTD: Should it be in Your Career Plan?" I knew right after I registered that I was going to pursue a CPLP, I was excited.Next, I emailed a CPLP credential holder. I did this right after I registered for the June meeting. I thought that after the June meeting all of the CPLPs would be swamped with people wanting to ask them questions and get advise, so I wanted to get ahead of the game. Thank you Matt, for your kindness, humor and taking the time to answer my emails and questions!
The June 7th meeting was AWESOME! It turned out to be a small panel discussion and I had the opportunity to ask questions and meet the CPLPs personally. Despite numerous "warnings" (kidding, transparency appreciated) about the difficulty and long process - I was in...this was going to happen, I was going for the CPLP!! Thanks to the panel that night - you were so genuine about your CPLP journey and what it meant to obtain it!
Next, how would I pay for this process??? I stalked the ATDCHi website, daily to see if the 2018 scholarship was available. I appreciate those people who kept watch for me as well!!! It took me longer than expected to complete my application - my father died a week before it was due and my concentration and drive took a hit. Thank you to Susan who reviewed my answers before I applied so that I did not sound like a rambling idiot!!
August 15th I got the notification - I received the ATDChi CARA CPLP Scholarship for 2018!!! Thanks to all who helped me get this far.....let the journey begin!!!
